My fascination in “go-go” music was fortified by having friends strongly involved in the ‘go-go’ scene and my attendance of a high school which was home to an up & coming neighborhood band named “Prophecy Band & Show”.  Because of all this accessible exposure to “behind the scenes” information about the ‘go-go’ scene, I learned quickly that my possibility of being able to join a band was slim.  So, since I wasn’t going to be part of the scene as anyone’s band member, I began to learn the business of being a band broker- or better said, a dealer of live event tapings by the bands.  This involvement expanded my interest to learn about audio production, which started at home as a self-taught audio technician.

My knowledge as an audio technician was very elementary- dubbing/mixing tapes, yes, cassette tapes that is.  This training was improved as I went from making music tapes to encourage pre-mature relational interactions, to making music tapes to encourage Christians in college to maintain their relational commitment to Jesus Christ.  As a Christian in college, living away from home on campus, I found it hard to maintain my Christianity without support.  So after having to discontinue my 1st college enrollment, I committed to helping others maintain theirs by providing them support the best way I was able to do so- through audio/music production.

This training of operating my self-appointed ‘audio ministry’ proved to be great preparation for officially operating the audio ministry at a church for almost 3 years.  At the conclusion of facilitating the church audio ministry, 9 months later, I commenced operating my own online music promotion/production company- which was in substitution of an internship, co-op, or work study since I could not find one to fit my interest (and vice versa) of “music marketing”.  So what does all of this have to do with the proposition that determined my destiny?  Next post…
